Easy layout of ingredients and directions for each recipe.Cons (at least for me): the recipes are very basic and if you've done some baking / cooking, you've seen 90% of these recipes (blueberry pancake, banana walnut muffins, french toast). Included in egg recipes are how to fry, poach, and scramble an egg. Not that I don't like these because I do LOVE breakfast food, it's that I already have most in my personal recipe files or already know how to make these items. There really isn't anything new or even a variation that makes a recipe more interesting if not unusual. There are simplified directions and ingredient lists. Conversion charts and weight equivalents and an index are included. Many of the recipes have variations. For example, if you are in a routine of fixing French toast, there are 5 variations here. All but the most experienced cooks can always use some help in ideas and this does give many. Who would have thought of bacon chocolate banana sandwiches, which are actually surprisingly good? There are some omissions here. There is no information or warning that it is hard to peel a fresh egg that has been hard boiled, that it would be better to have eggs... I have tons of cookbooks, especially baking books. I certainly didn't need another cookbook. But after thumbing through this book at a local bookstore, I couldn't resist. It has recipes for the usual muffins, scones, coffee cakes, quiches, etc. But it also has some unusual twists that I've never seen before. Breakfast lasagna, with lasagna noodles, bacon, mushrooms, eggs - how obvious, and yet the idea had never occurred to me. I bought the book about a week ago, and already I've tried at least a half dozen recipes. All have been winners that I'll make again. We really liked the breakfast lasagna. I loved the idea of the Vanilla Waffles layered with Cooked Meringue and raspberries, and we also loved the result. I used the remaining meringue to fill and decorate the Blueberry Bundt Cake - which was delicious enough to stand on its own, but was even better with the meringue.
